Jr. Pinchers iPhone app went live at midnight.

Sneaking in under the radar for much of the later part of 2009. Jr. Pinchers has quietly released a genre creating single with international appeal. I know as the CEO I am biased on how I view his work but I can remain objective on his new project, his second full length album. Jr. Pinchers first single "Back Broke" is a jazz inspired dance song that can easily play alongside a Pitt Bull track on your local radio. His "sing song" style is refreshing and the hook sticks to your brain like warm peanut butter. So what does all this praise have to do with an iPhone app?

As of midnight this morning Jr. Pinchers new iPhone or iPod touch application was available on apples iTunes store. If you own either one of these devices you can log into your account type in "jrpinchers" and scroll down to the app section of the search results. There you can download his application to your device and enjoy.

The app comes with a music section with a full version of his chart topping single "Back Broke", sneak previews of his upcoming 2nd album with select tracks and two remixes that are only available on his app! There is a news section that keeps you up to date with the latest news on Jr. Pinchers. Bio section, discography, links listed under "I dare you", and videos. The video section only has the video but more "behind the scene" videos are coming soon.

Be warned, the application will only be available for free to the first 25,000 people who download it. The app is available in all of apples stores worldwide so hurry up before his official promo begins on Jango (the online radio station).

You can download the app at: http://bit.ly/7q9vPp

Don't forget to rate the app

MTV Latin America loves Jr. Pinchers!

What happens when you take a hot song and marry it with an even hotter video that makes sense? You get "Back Broke" the infectious beat driven new single by Jr. Pinchers produced by Twinz Beatz.

Back Broke takes us for a 4 min ride with great graphics, cool scenes that make sense and best of all HOT girls, ok that's not "best of all", but watching a video that matches the song is refreshing.

The literal translation of the video means to "wine ( not the bottle kind the gyrating your hips kind) till you snap your spine." This song encourages you to leave your problems on the edge of the dance floor. "Dance until you sweat!" Jr. P proclaims, he is all about the ladies!

Jr. Pinchers, a Jamaican artist born and raised on the island and in the studios. Is known more for his "sing song" style a stark departure from this new style that is catching on everywhere. And when we say everywhere we mean in places like the UK, Brasil, Belgium, Germany and Australia.

So it's no surprise that MTV Latin America loves the video! So much so that they added the video to a popular video countdown show and to the normal video rotation.

Jr. Pinchers is doing a show at the Rock Bar (on South Beach, Fl.) on Dec. 3rd and then another show Dec. 12th at the upcoming Miami Music Festival being held in Down Town Miami and I for one will be at both peformances.

He is also reportedly going on tour with his famous father later in Dec. Details will follow as I get them, what a great mash up that would be veteran entertainer Pinchers and Jr. P covering classic hits mixed with fresh new material from Jr. P's new album. There is no better way to teach history and expose a new generation to great music!

The speed bumps labels face.

Funny how people come running to your door when they find out you are a CEO of a record label. It won't matter if you are a major or an indie the intent is the same for those looking to goose you for $.

On our journey to market with Jr. Pinchers we have found plenty of people who are willing to take our money for what I consider sub standard work. From street teams to publisist pitching us a plan with no back bone.

We have spent upwards of, well let's just say we have invested the sum of of a midsized four door car into promotions and the outcome from the contractors in my opinion has been at best a c+. The issue we face, in fact any label faces is trust!

Street teams are usually built with artist who are waiting their turn at fame. Or "cling ons" who just want to "roll with you" because they think they can be on the books to hang out. If street teams don't fit into either then they belong to someone who can organize them and get things done. They problem with those kinds of teams is that their loyalty is to the green, not your project.

So what's a CEO to do then? You can't run the day today take the meetings with other labels and be in the streets till 6 am every day. So what do you do?

Don't waist the time or the money on a private contractor. Hire a reputable promo team who deal with name brand artist. Upfront the cost will be hire but the ROI will be measurable. If they don't get the results they were contracted to produce, they will make up for it with promotional work until they get results.

Do this only if you don't have a team in place of your own. As a label you need that one person who can handle that team for you. Your job as a CEO is to juggle it not handle it. That's why you surround yourself with these types of people I. The first place and there is always someone who has something to prove so always give them a chance to produce results you can measure.

Any questions you can email me at the email below.

Does being a CEO of an Indie label suck?

My initial reaction to the question "Does being a CEO of an Indie label suck" is hell no! Being a CEO of an indie label is the best thing right now. Look at Jay Z, who reportedly paid $5,000,000 to buy his final album back from the label. He even admits to "overpaying" for the album but this dedication to the art of music is the reason he dominates today's music. Jay Z's Roc Nation is a partnership with Live Nation the mega concert promoters who a couple years ago before the full on decline of cd sales started courting and signing big name acts like U2, Madonna, and Jay Z. Giving them free reign over their music catalogs while sharing in the overall revenue generated in what the music industry now calls "360 deals."

Being a CEO in today's music landscape is like being a "gold miner" each artist is like an undiscovered vein. The more work you can put into an artist, the more resources you can earmark to that dig, still means nothing hahahaha.

Talent in an indie framework means exactly that look for old videos of lady gaga on the MTV show boiling point. She looks nothing like the Lady Gaga we now know. Find the talent teach them to market themselves using the latest tools but bottom line give them the freedom to creat. As an indie label CEO I just guide them to the end product with suggestions and conversations about being true to the form. In the end I get a product that speaks the truth from the heart and the market gets a great album.

So once again being a CEO of an indie label DOES NOT SUCK!

Jr. Pinchers new single breaks the TOP 10 in Jamaica!

After 8 weeks on the top 25 charts Jr. Pinchers second chart topping song breaks the TOP 10 by jumping three spots from number 12 to the number 9 spot. BACK BROKE, the first single off of Jr.'s upcoming 2nd album is his 2nd TOP 10 showing. RETV début the video plus a special "Behind the Scenes" segment that showed how the video was being made. Airing this past Friday to rave reviews, word from Jamaica is that "people who keep missing the video are sitting in front of their TV’s waiting for it to air again." other who don't have cable are waiting for the video to air on regular network TV.

MTV, VHI, and BET are watching what the video does on the JA. charts and will premier it in the U.S. when it hits number 1 on the JA. charts. The video has gathered over 3,000 views in the last 3 days as the video is going viral. Bloggers are taking about the mash-up of an Electronic song with a Jamaican artist sing-rapping on such a catchy beat! From London to California Déjà’s, Sound Boys, and even other labels are raving about the mash-up.

More traditional Reggae Déjà’s are not feeling the track as much as the rest of the world. But when you take a Rasta from the Reggae Genre and mix it into the Elctronica/Dance world and create a new Genre, you won’t be able to please everyone. Back Broke, will continue to climb the charts on the way to becoming the first Electronic song to top the Jamaican Dancehall charts in JA and continue to spread to other charts worldwide.

With this entire buzz about Jr. Pinchers Worldwide, what do you have to say about the song and video? Check it out, and then comment here or on Youtube about the video I am sure Jr. P is watching to see what people have to say about his new Genre.

Back Broke goes live on Youtube!

After many weeks of revisions and tweaking Back Broke is finally done! Lead Dancer Romi who is also in a recently released video by Kanye West featuring John Legend called "Whatever you want" Romi can be seen at 1:11 seconds. In the Kanye video she is not the feature, but she should have been. Check Romi out as she is featured in the Back Broke video dancing with, around, and over Jr. Pinchers.

Jr. Pinchers a 2nd generation artist from Jamaica is son of the legendary Pinchers from the 80's. Newly signed to the Indie label Sloppishizzle Records Jr. P is working with the labels foundation producers Twinz Beatz (pictured below)

Jr. P is enjoying his 2nd chart topping single with Back Broke waiting around the corner of the top 10 on the top 25 charts for Richie B's "The Jamaica's Music Countdown", Richie B is host of the Hot Mix on Hot 102FM in Jamaica and his chart is regarded as the Jamaican Billboard before a song crosses over to the top 100 of Billboard Magazine in the States.

The video is filled with hot girls, great visuals and has the creative flare of top tier talent...but wait it does. Juan M & Jaime D from Nativo a creative power house marketing firm out of Miami with offices in Bogota Columbia is one of the driving forces behind the videos over all artistic look. We caught up with Juan and Jaime and asked them how they managed to land a music video, since they are known for their creative work with clients like Pepsi, HBO Latino, among other big name brands.

MFUSA: How did you guys meet Jr. P?
Juan & Jaime: (Juan) We are the marketing arm of Sloppishizzle Records and they asked us to do a photo shoot for a new artist they were going to sign (at the time) and we had such a great vibe doing the photo shoot we told them when they are ready to shoot a video let us know.

MFUSA: Had you shot a video before?
Juan & Jaime: (Juan) No, but... (Jaime) we have always prepared a "Behind the scenes" video for all of our clients and this was just a natural progression. We worked in the "big bad world" of advertising so we both had experience being on set but not as the directors and Jaime and I work so well together that we make up one person when we are together, so directing a music video was just a natural progression for us.

MFUSA: How was the process for you?
Juan & Jaime: (Jaime) we brought in a very accomplished producer Orlando Zamora who was also our editor. From the start we had pre-production meetings so we could map out the overall vision from Jr. P and the Twinz and we took that vision and wrapped a production schedule around it and put a dollar amount to making the video a reality. Once we got the green light from the label we got to work securing all the equipment we needed through Orlando. Over all the process was quite smooth and on the day of the shoot as hectic as it was for the 12 hrs of shooting. It literally went off without a hitch. (Juan) It even went down to the last minute of shooting to get the final shot!

MFUSA: How did it get to the last minute what do you mean?
Juan & Jaime: (Juan) We have a budget that we needed to stick to and one of those items was the space we used to shoot the video. Once we started we had a timer running backwards on us. Once that timer reaches zero then, we would have to pay for any time we use over that time and sometimes depending on the location they can charge you for every minute over your allotted time. We took the video shoot down to the last seconds and then we had to be out of the space, it was a great feeling getting 24 hrs of shooting into a 12 hr day!

MFUSA: What can we expect from this video?
Juan & Jaime: (both) Girls, girls, and more girls… (Juan) No you can expect to see lots of energy, hot girls of course but not exploited, more celebrated as woman than objects. Look at the video several times we put a lot of detail into the video for you to see, creative details. I am not going to say what they are you will just have to find them and comment on them yourselves. We also wanted to make sure we represented Jamaica in the video since the artist is originally from Jamaica. We hope you like the video as much as we enjoyed making it and there is a great surprise at the end of the video for you.

Watch the video follow the links and comment on the video of look it up on Youtube and make it the hottest video with the most views. Also subscribe to the new SloppiShizzle Records Youtube channel and be on the lookout for new content from the Slop-Shop (the recording studio for the Twinz).
